Departure
“Meet me in front of ‘our’ statue at 3:00 pm. It should be crowded enough”, the note said.
She was nervously excited. Finally! They could escape their realities and start afresh in a new place. Adventure awaited!
The cloudy sky could not dampen her spirits as she packed her suitcases, trying to bring the essentials. Once established, they would have time to shop but until then, she needed the basics.
Running around in her underwear, throwing clothes around, she finally found the perfect going away outfit. Yes! He will definitely love this!

I understood this as the note was not meant for her but for another woman(maybe sister/mother). Nice one.

Maybe because of the photo and the fact they were going to meet but it reminded me a little of An Affair To Remember. But you can really take that story in several different directions, can’t you.

Absolutely, George! That’s the fun of it!
And… where’s YOUR submission? Love to read your take on the photo prompt! 😛

Unfortunately, it was one of those weeks that didn’t leave a lot of time for writing. Maybe next week?…:)

Great! Enjoyed reading it. Sometimes I wish I could write English as well as my native language German …

Thank you! Sometimes I wish I had had someone to practice the little German I learnt in two semesters at college 25 years ago… Now I’m limited to asking for the time, asking if you can hear the birds and counting to ten… oh and maybe a swear word or two! 😉 Danke shön!

Caught while caught in her underwear! Ha ha. That’s funny. Oh, too bad. She was so excited and filled with adventure. I hope she gets another chance. Fun take, Dale.

Definitely not the organized type… or maybe she was not given enough notice. Thanks! It could also be ominous; all depends on who she is to the person asking where she’s going 😉

Ahh…caught! She should have packed only one bag and left earlier! The anticipation level and the level of FRUSTRATION over what is happening and what comes next……..high…very high. Well done, You!

She should have stuck to plan A and go with the basics… I doubt she’ll be going anywhere. Nicely done!

Travel was in my initial thought on this photo. In terms of your story, it seems the unidentified voice at the end may have caused the plans to change.

A great story, Dale. I think if a woman is going to scarper, she needs to travel light and get moving. All she needs to do is throw on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, grab her handbag, some money or credit card, plus car keys (if she has a car) and buy whatever else she needs once she’s miles away.
I didn’t get around to writing a Friday Fictioneers story this week. Just ran out of time, but have enjoyed reading yours.

Thanks, Sarah! I looked for you! 😉 Life does get in the way sometimes, doesn’t it? I am frankly amazed that I can pump these out weekly and in a relatively short time (once the idea has come, that is…)
Yes, if one is to escape one’s circumstance, one should just forget the idea of a suitcase! I guess she thought she had time…

Wow, you wrote a good story and I guess she was running away from someone too. I hope she gets to leave and start a new life! Well done! Nan 🙂

Eek, now it’s telling the truth or burying the dream. I love stories that send the imagination into overdrive, and this is one of them. 🙂
