My boys start school this coming Wednesday. Can you see me dancing and whooping? No, no, it’s not what you think. It’s not just that they are going to be out of the house five days per week. It’s because we will start to have a reasonable schedule! Me, especially! I’ve been out of control with these late nights and late wake-ups. I feel I could be doing so much more but when you start so late…
I shall not lament on my shortcomings as this is a positive post. I shall focus on the good stuff! Such as this delicious Strawberry Shortcake, Julia Child’s French version! Only one itty-bitty piece left! Mind you, we were 15 noshing on it!
Gratitude List
-
Love it when the whole family gets together. Thanks, Tracy, for getting Mom to come down and having us all over for a serious over-eating escapade!
-
So happy my dentist was able to squeeze us in despite my boys’ tardiness.
-
How sweet is Frank to name me his “Maître D” for his latest “Dance” musical! He says it’s because I participate a lot; I say it’s the equivalent of having a big mouth and overly giving my two cents’ worth!
-
Super happy I’ve got two brand-new meals clients who picked up their very first batches this week-end. Fingers crossed they like them!
-
A lot of laughs and serious conversations and things happen when getting together with Patti. We’ll remember this one for a while, eh?
I am quite exhausted by your exuberance and enthusiasm,
And sulking because I did not get a piece of strawberry shortcake.
Which looks Dalectable.

😆 I knew you’d be happy! Not always a bad thing to be over – exuberant!
There were some who did want to face-first the cake!

An idea … make smaller cakes for individuals … then tell them it’s the no hands, no utensils version.

Yeah, sure. Not when there are 15 at the table, k?

LOL … that would be a tad bit of extra work for the one preparing.

A tad? I make Christmas baskets with mini fruitcakes and others. So much more work than simply cutting to size!

Could simple a large piece, then declare no hands and no utensils.

I’m finding it amusing that in every single moment of gratitude you listed there is a mouth involved somewhere….I guess that’s how it goes when you’re a caterer, huh? LOL!
Love these posts, Dale.

I figure once a week being all chipper can’t be a bad thing!

Whatever time I go to bed, I always wake up between 5.30-6.00 a.m. It’s an old habit related to early work shifts in my younger days. The trouble with early waking nowadays, it doesn’t necessarily result in an early start for any meaningful activities, apart from taking ages over a long breakfast (just thought I’d mention food here!).

Well now you’ve gone and burst my bubble! Here I was deluding myself into believing I’d start getting more done! (Food apparently was the focus this week!)

Maybe you will get more done. I used to be efficient in the early mornings. The thing that slows me down is the getting up and then going back to bed taking a cup of tea with me. This is often the only time in the day I get the chance to do more talking than Mister, whilst he’s still half asleep and I’ve been up for an hour!

I am usually quite productive in the mornings…as long as I get up and do! If I get up and laze…nuthin’ happens!

A fabulous list topped by a delicious looking strawberry cheesecake. I love baking but don’t eat it. I let everyone else have the calories. Actually, I don’t like sweets. : (
Woo – Hoo for you. I remember the days when school started as being the best. Enjoy !!!! They do get home at the end of the day. : )
aFrank is right … “Maître D” is the perfect job for you.
Have a Fab week !!!

I would love to sample you strawberry shortcake. At home I’m safe from temptation because I don’t bake. Glad you’re happy to be getting back into your old routine now that summer’s over.

Thanks, Vivi. I hardly bake at home (like to bring stuff so there’s no temptation at home!)
