Some Enchanted Evening
It was going to be a beautiful evening, though mostly starless, thanks to the clouds. Still, it was nice and warm and they would be able to sit by the fire for that extra cozy feel.
“Don’t forget to bring the Tiki torch, Babe. It’ll keep the skeeters away.”
“Great idea. How ’bout some wine, too?”
“Yeah. And I think there’s still some cheese left from last night. Might as well bring that too.”
While he retrieved the items, she positioned the chairs and table round the fire.
“So, where do you think we stand as a couple?” she asked.
I’m not sure that was the question he was expecting, or wanted to hear.

I don’t think so either…

I loved your twist – it made me grin! You deceived me totally. Their easy companionship made me think they were a long-married couple. And perhaps they are; there’s nothing that says a cosy relationship doesn’t need spicing up from time to time. Well done!

That’s why I put it in quotes. It was from 21 to 26 – time I could have been out figuring out who I was instead of stepmom to a 3-8 year-old and doing nothing else but housewife duties and working. Dullsville

Q,
Maybe you found out more about yourself than you understood. Most 21-26 year olds are busy being full of themselves and figuring life out by doing all the wrong things in magnificently stupid fashion. You became something bigger and more important than all that shit, and in the doing, you . . became you.
The one we know now.
So to us peeps? We’re plenty good with how things worked out.
🙂

B,
You may have a point there. I dunno about bigger and more important but I definitely learned about responsibilities. And yes… added to the me.
The one who is before you now.
And who really appreciates the kind words she gets from.het good peeps.
