I mostly need a nudge of some kind to write something. Thank you, Sammi!
A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend. How you use the prompt is up to you. Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like. Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise. If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in the comments.
Word Prompt
Brandish
Challenge
Some feel it necessary to brandish their good deeds about
Like a Dolce & Gabbana logo splashed across their chests
A scream of “Look at me! Look what I did!
Can you see me? Are you impressed ?”
Yes, the deeds are appreciated for what they are
A meal, a ride, a giving of things
A kindness not echoed in the eyes nor resonating sincerity
All about appearances.
Requiring zero investment in self
Along you come
Not seeking a return on your investment
Not drawing attention to your deeds
Not wanting other than to show your love
Giving from the heart with sincerity
No questions asked
You do get a return
Love
Liked the comparison, Dale. I’ll take the later.

This is absolutely fantastic stuff! So strong and pulpy and did I mention fantastic? I relate to the content wholeheartedly, I get the message completely. And your style . . . lady, you have SUCH a style to your words.
I’m right . . .;)

Oh, I love this, Dale, absolutely love it. Sometimes a poem comes into view at exactly the right time and this is exactly what happened with yours. Great sentiments delivered quite beautifully.

I don’t understand all your lines re ‘brandish’ but I like it anyway. are all the lines about brandishing their good deeds such as ….. ?
LikeLiked by 1 person
As showing them off by waving them about – by telling everyone.
And glad you do despite 😉

You know I KNOW the word but find it difficult to explain. Is is maybe sort of ‘swinging/waving/stuff’ your good deeds/intents/etc into the face of your vis-à-vis? 😉
I love languages and I love making fresh sense or even stupid suggestions so that’s right up my road 😉

Yes! Brandish has a swashbuckling ring to it that suits such displays. Clever work, Dale.

Dear Dale,
What a great use of the word ‘brandish.’ Some people do brandish their ‘good deeds’ like a sword. Great contrast between two types of people we all know or have known. Well done.
Shalom and hugs,
Rochelle

Dear Rochelle,
Thank you. Sometimes you have an idea of the direction you will take… this was the case with brandish. I just could not see myself using it in any other way! Glad it worked for you!
Lotsa love,
Dale
