Advent Calendar – Day 8

In the spirit of Christmas and the Advent Calendar that has been revamped and re-purposed in myriad ways, I have decided to do one of another sort.  Instead of taking one chocolate per day (or wine or whatever goodie is in vogue) or adding one item into a box to donate for a good cause (a very good thing, indeed) I have chosen to send a little love to my favourite blogs.

Day 9 – Cronechronicler

This lovely lady goes by the name Vivachange77 and I’ve been following her for over three years, thanks to Andrea over at Harvesting Hecate.  Those circles, I tell you!  She shares her life’s happenings through poetry of all sorts, oftentimes through a simple, perfectly worded Haiku.

Regularly, we’ll get a non-poem-styled post where she shares the joys and funny happenings of life and getting older.  Kudos to this lady who took (or rather, re-took) to writing later on in life!

I once had an exchange with her (of course I can’t find it) where we discussed her use of “crone” and I told her I could not bring myself to use such a term!  She very gently explained that a crone is a not just an evil old woman; there is a positive aspect in that she is a grandmother, a wisdom keeper, seer and healer and midwife.  I no longer feel it is a harsh term!  And, it definitely applies to you, dear Vivi!

  1. A grandmother, wisdom keeper, seer, healer and midwife. A crone? Brave lady to say so. And yet, historically … I’m thinking Shakespeare. If she were near I’d shake her hand. By your recounting, nice lady. One wonders who’ll be tomorrow’s focus.

  2. You had me at “Crone Chronicler” – what a wonderful blog name! For those of us for whom the witches are usually the good guys, crones are the super heroes — the especially fierce ones that you don’t mess with. Wise and also strong of will. I *aspire* to be a crone when I grow up!

  3. How lovely! This is fab (and … I happen to love the word, concept, and reclaimed usage of the word “Crone” — we crown our heads with the signs of lives deeply lived. That’s a good thing in my book!) 🙂

  4. Dale, my heart is brim-full with your choosing mine as one of your Advent Calendar blogs. I am honored and surprised. I had no idea so many people had positive images of crones before I read Comments. And I have a surprise for you. Today is my birthday and this is a fantastic gift. Thanks. ❤

    • Dearest Ina,..I am ever so glad to do my part on filling your heart! You see what you’ve done? You’ve brought the positive and wonderful side to crones! And how serendipitous that your blog title meant your “nomination” came as a birthday present! A most fabulous and happy birthday to you, my favourite Crone! xoxo ❤
