In the spirit of Christmas and the Advent Calendar that has been revamped and re-purposed in myriad ways, I have decided to do one of another sort. Instead of taking one chocolate per day (or wine or whatever goodie is in vogue) or adding one item into a box to donate for a good cause (a very good thing, indeed) I have chosen to send a little love to my favourite blogs.
Day 10 – Fiction Favorites
There are more than a few of us in the same circle as John W. Howell, and I could give credit to more than one for directing me towards this here wonderful site. However, in the name of fairness and to avoid any unnecessary jealousy, I shall refrain from naming names 😉 . Suffice it to say that it was a good day when I went from just exchanging banters with John on other people’s blogs to outright bantering on our own blogs 😉
The man is a published author (I’m waiting for my copy to arrive of “Circumstances of Childhood”). When it comes to John’s blog, we are treated to various themes, such as: Monday’s “Top 10 Things Not to do…” – a hilarious list of things not to do with a sneaky insertion of history; Thursday’s “A Little Personal” could be a tour of his Port Aransas, TX ‘hood or a description of any day-to-day life told through the eyes of his four-legged babies, Bailey, Lucy and Twiggy – each one adorable. On Wednesdays John gives us a little more of an on-going story, leaving us to wonder what’s coming next (he, himself is making it up as he goes along so…)
I’ll leave the rest of the days of the week for you to explore! Go ahead, you won’t be disappointed!
Dear Dale,
Ah moving along with the alphabet. Today’s sponsor is the letter F. I’m intrigued and will have to visit Mr. Howard’s site. Thank you for another look into one of your many blogging friends.
Shalom and hugs,
Rochelle

Dear Rochelle,
Yes, we have arrived at the letter F and, yes, Mr. Howard’s site is a lot of fun. You are most welcome and I love that you at least take a sneak peak into my world 😉
Lotsa love,
Dale

I have a story about John Howard. In college, there was a mistake in the computer (they were new then) and I was known as John Howard for about two years. I got it corrected, finally but did expect my degree to read John Howard. (It did not)

That’s too funny. Well, not if they had misspelled your name on your degree…
Only thing I get is being mistaken for a man… all. the. time.

You mean you are not a man?

Though I keep my hair short (at this time) and I’m a tough broad… I’m no man 😉

Thank you for the introduction to John’s blog. I’ve seen him out and about, and have been meaning to visit. Finally, I did (and really enjoyed today’s “Top 10 Things Not to do…”).

That’s kind of what happened with me. I’d see him out and about (love that) and finally said to myself it was time to visit. His Top 10 Things Not to Do is hilarious week after week!

Wow, Dale. You gobsmacked me right in the kisser. This series is such fun and I never thought my blog would be part of your features. I’m so honored to be among those you consider good enough for this kind of attention. I treasure our association and look forward to more delight.

I am so very glad I managed to gobsmack you right in the kisser! And that’s the best part of this “series” – I hope to surprise and please those who are chosen 😉
I’m so glad I stopped just chatting with you elsewhere and started reading all your great stuff! The treasure is mutual.

Reblogged this on Fiction Favorites and commented:
Dale at A Dalectable Life is doing an imaginative Advent calendar. She is featuring her favorite blogs on each day of Advent. I am honored to be one of those features today. If you have visited Dale’s blog you know how much fun she has there. If not, well, you are missing out.

A well-deserved spot on my calendar, I say! So very glad to include you and thank you for your little nudge towards me! (Not the reason I am doing this but very appreciative nonetheless!)
