In the spirit of Christmas and the Advent Calendar that has been revamped and re-purposed in myriad ways, I have decided to do one of another sort. Instead of taking one chocolate per day (or wine or whatever goodie is in vogue) or adding one item into a box to donate for a good cause (a very good thing, indeed) I have chosen to send a little love to my favourite blogs.
Day 12 – Harvesting Hecate
I can tell you the exact date I fell under Andrea Stephenson’s spell. Well, to be honest, I did have to look it up, but I knew exactly where to go look as it was on Sarah Potter’s Guest Story Teller post of October, 2014. Andrea wrote a short story called The White Feather and it blew me away. Truth be told, it has stayed with me all this time… I can’t believe it was her first flash fiction (she says so, on that post!). I marvelled that a whole story could be told in about 160 words.
Since then she has charmed me with her reflective walks where she shares her thoughts on all matter of subjects highlighted with beautiful photographs. Every now and again, she share a wonderful story. Ironically, I reblogged her Christmas story just yesterday! Such a delight to read and, if you missed it, can find it here.
She has won various writing awards and been published in many publications of all sorts. And with good reason.
Thank you for the introduction to Andrea. The White Feather is a wonderful story.

You are most welcome. It is a heart breaker – especially when you learn this practice was done…calling.a man a coward by giving him such…

Yes, I’d heard of the practice, and I know conscientious objectors were targeted.

Awful. I didn’t and was appalled!

I knew of it, but I also thought I’d seen it in a movie–so just looked it up, and it was in “Sunset Song,” a movie I really liked. (In case you need another recommendation from me.) 😉
