In the spirit of Christmas and the Advent Calendar that has been revamped and re-purposed in myriad ways, I have decided to do one of another sort. Instead of taking one chocolate per day (or wine or whatever goodie is in vogue) or adding one item into a box to donate for a good cause (a very good thing, indeed) I have chosen to send a little love to my favourite blogs.
Day 13 – Jots From a Small Apt.
I am including Ms Raye’s blog because I love this woman to bits. She hasn’t written a thing in months and deep down, I have that dream, that wish, that she will again. At least I can see her occasionally on Instagram!
A few years ago, I ended up in an “Irish” blogging circle, Jean, Mick (John), Patsy (none of whom blog anymore, or at best, only once in a blue moon)… and through John’s blog, I met Raye. You see, they did a collaboration: she had taken one of his photographs and done her version of it in watercolour. Beautiful. Then I read the repartee between her and John and next thing I knew, I was totally stalking her. Smart, witty, funny, sarcastic, poetic, tongue-in-cheek… I could go on an on.
Not only does this woman paint beautiful pictures, she can write. Boy can she write. It’s probably not fair to you readers that she has chosen to spend more time with her roses and paintbrushes now, but this is my Advent Calendar and I am choosing to send love her way anyway.
To you RRR xoxoxo
Ditto! I greatly miss her presence and the banter that engaged us. Yes, another one of my peeps – but unlike the others, she brought you to me (not me bringing them to you.) Cheers Raye – you still get the dance!

That she did!
And yes, she is missed. Lots.

I have a lot of those favorite bloggers (and their blogs) on my reader too: ones that haven’t posted in a while, but boy, when they do, I zip over immediately! (Or at least I try. These days my “zip” is pretty exhausted.)

Dear Dale,
She sounds like a kindred spirit. Your broadening scope of friends never ceases to amaze me. You are the queen of the Blogoshere. Much love to you on this 13th day of the advent calendar.
Shalom and hugs,
Rochelle

Dear Rochelle,
She is! It’s wild. I never really realised until I started this “project”.
Queen is a tad high… 😉
Lotsa love right back at ya!

A shame she no longer writes. But I understand the conflict between painting and writing. To do justice to one, one must relinquish the other, as I did long, long ago.

Yes. I miss her writing but get to see her art on Instagram.

Swings and roundabouts. Ah, that’s a phrase that hasn’t crossed the ocean. It means win some, lose some.

Love that term swings and roundabouts.

It’s a fairly common British phrase. But I know it hasn’t survived oceanic travel cos it forms the basis of a British comedian’s rather adult totally non-pc joke.
But, to disregard that: Personally, I prefer swings; they’re more exhilerating.

So many do make it but this one. I admit, I was unaware of.
I agree. Swings are the way to go!!

From underneath the lowest branch of sheltering quiet I see and feel your presence surround and embrace my silence. Frank, too. I’ve been polishing my Tango shoes for the infamous threesome Frank has promised the two of us. Thank you, Missy D, for ironing my dress. You are a wonderment! Hang it, for now, in the wardrobe next to our dance shoes. It won’t be long. Cohen’s “Dance Me To The End of Love” would be perfect….you think?
Can’t begin to thank you (and aFa) for your warm embrace, said with tears. Xoxo RRR

I see you occasionally lurking around…. And just know I totally respect your silence (doesn’t stop me from missing you, though 😉)
The moment that Tango starts, I’m there! Cohen is a perfect choice.
Lotsa love to you, RRR! DMLR xoxo

Super post, Dale. Let us all know when the threesome is scheduled. (can you say, voyeur? Yeah, from Quebec, of course, you can)

Ms Raye is certainly multi-talented. Great writing style and beautiful paintings. No wonder you included her in your calendar.

AmIright or amIright? Love her style (not surprised you like it too, as you have quite the pen yourself) Absolutely had to include her, knowing she is pretty done with writing but hoping, still…

It’s a shame when those bloggers you love don’t write so much anymore, but they still have a place in our hearts!

It is. And there are a few of them, eh? Like Jean from Social Bridge..
They definitely do have a place 😀
