Weekend Writing Prompt #99 – Anathema

This is not a word that finds its way into my everyday jargon.  Always fun to challenge myself in various ways.  Thank you, Sammi, for providing that challenge!

A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend.  How you use the prompt is up to you.  Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like.  Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise.  If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in the comments.

Word Prompt

Anathema

Challenge

you think you will get into my good graces

pretending to be someone you are not

charming me with your fabulousness

insincerity dripping from your tongue

what you haven’t the sense to understand is

this is anathema to me

give me your honest, goofy, true self

authenticity, with all its foibles

wins

  1. Q,

I KNEW you were going to push through and bust it with this word prompt challenge. When you were complaining about it last night, I thought to myself . . . ‘nkay . . . it’ll be there. LOL.

And whoa nellie . . hold the boat! It was there, and then some. I kind of wish this particular challenge could have given you more words, because the ones you got . .you used to perfection. Then again, I’m in no way complaining. This was sooooo good.

    Beautifully penned, Writer Chica. 😉

(Your huge fan from the other side of the fence . . . not to mention foible ridden and oftentimes tough to deal with but still lovable enough friend).

    • B,

You KNEW it, eh? Complaining… such a strong word, no? I was, bemoaning. Wait. K. I was bitching!

Whoa Nellie? Them thar is some high praise, ‘deed!

Thank you so much fellow writer chico.

Reason you are my lovable friend is because of your foibles and some (not often) times touch to deal-with-ish-ness…

      MWAH!

  2. Sorry. There is not enough room for me to show my true authentic goofy self. However, thanks for reminding me that I am. Oh, was this not a personal message to me? I am so embarrassed. Lol. Good job.

  3. Yes! To authenticity, to being one self (with all the odd little quirks and scratches and scars and what not) and to allowing one’s unique-self be.
That mailbox, though … ! 🙂 LOL! It sure saves time on dust-collectors (knick-knacks) in the home – the rain and wind can do the washing and dustin’ for that person right directly!

    XOXO
