I almost did not participate this week. However, today seems a good day to give thanks to those who might not realise that their actions, words, their just being them, mean to me. I feel much love.
A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend. How you use the prompt is up to you. Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like. Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise. If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in the comments. Thank you, Sammi, for hosting this weekly challenge. It’s one of my favourites.
Word Prompt
Impress
Challenge
There is something more than special about finding and being with people who get you
The ones who take you as you are with all your warts and idiosyncracies
They love you when you laugh and join in on your silliness
They love you when you cry and not only offer their shoulder but cry with you
You don’t have to impress them with anything material
You don’t have to put on airs and pretend to be someone you are not
To you, dear ones, who have given me time, muscles, spirit, space
Know your love for me is impressed deeply in my heart
Love this! Happy Easter Dale.

I have always loved Joe Cocker and this is one of my favorites. Happy Easter, Dale. To find the kinds of friends described in your words is a priceless gift.

I had to use this version.
Happy Easter to you and yours.
Yes. And amazingly, the ones found on the blogosphere have become rather important, too.

I love this song, and this Woodstock 1969 version has to be the best ever version of it!

It’s a wonderful thing to know who your real friends are and that you can rely on them. I thank you for your Easter wishes and I send them back a thousand fold. I love this version of A little help from my friends, by far the best. Here is one I would like to add from me and I mean it.
be well and Happy 💜💜

It absolutely is. But there is a thing you did here … it’s about drawing a line between friends and those who aren’t but think they are. That’s the only way I can describe it. There are a few of the former and a whole lot of the latter. I refer to the former as my circle — the friends who (a) get me, (b) I can talk about anything with, (c) who challenge me, (d) who always support me in the end, (e) who are there, always there … and then the latter, a mile wide and an inch deep.

Isn’t it funny how sometimes we write things without consciously realising what we are saying? I mean, you are very perceptive on this one, Mark…

Q,
The people who ‘get’ the real you, are the ones you want in your corner when the shit hits the fan. Because they are the ones who know your skill set best of all.
And I’m not talking about your ability to tuck one of life’s big lessons into 104 words. Which you do so damned well! Yanno . . we talk about this all the time? But I can’t do this. Not the way you do this. Not every week, several times a week. I just can’t. You got me.
I’m not just saying that because I ‘get’ you. I’m saying it because I know you. And really, to know you IS to love you.
Thanks amiga. For always knowing.

B,
Damn straight! Who else would you want to have?
And, well, I dunno what you’re talkin’ about! Tucking life’s big lessons?
I think I now think in 150 words or less! Honestly. I could never do what you do with your magical amalgamation of words into phrases that just blow all your readers away. Me first.
Awww… now you definitely got me! I love you too.
Thanks, amigo, for your own knowing.

Ummmm. About that. Way back when we started this MWAH! bidness YOU are the one who wrote with a W and I with a U and then you did the switcheroo…
Either way, it means this 😘 right?

The switcheroo, huh? That does keep things interesting. But I need some verification as to the authenticity of this claim of yours . .
Okay, you got a point. It does mean 😘

Yep. Switcheroo. And for some reason that I cannot fathom, YOU decided to dump the dubya for a U… ‘splain that one to me, eh? or should I say huh? As to the official date that such thing occurred, I unfortunately cannot seem to put my hand on any official documentation…
I do. Of course I do. Coz it is 😘 exackery

I was probably coerced into doing so. Canadians are pretty convincing peeps . . .
Okay, in that case . . Imma get Attorney General to investigate the matter. Once he is extricated from the President’s ass . . .
Of course . . you right. 😘

Coerced? You? I thought you were immune to coercion…. Guess we Canadian peeps can be quite persuasive then…
Okay… maybe you wanna get the Canadian version? He might not be up the Prime Minister’s ass though he might be dancing Bollywood…
Of course. 😘

It happens. Perhaps it’s because of the hockey lineage . . Canadians fight without gloves? How barbaric!
The American AG is the rap version of an OG . . only not as cool.

Just saying.
And no, you guys are no sissies. No extra padding. No extra teeth either, but hey . . part and parcel.

Yanno what? the art is safe there! There are boxes all over the damn place…
Just sayin’
And no, we are not. Well, I got extra padding but that’s a whole ‘nother issue.
Dunno about that. You never saw me with the braces and headgear and before I got my wisdom teeth pulled.

Hey . . far be it from me to coerce a Canadian into an aesthetically unpleasant corner. You guys fist fight sans gloves, after all . . .
Boob jokes! . . . Very much appreciated.
Fair enough.

A great piece Dale. We don’t need pretender friends. Loved the link to one of my favorite singers. Mad Dogs and Englishmen, Joe Cocker. One of my absolute greatest concerts was Joe opening for Tom Petty in Sturgis, South Dakota several years back. Sadly they are both gone, but not forgotten. Anyway, I’m glad to count you as a friend and hope Rochelle and I get to see you later this year.
