A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend. How you use the prompt is up to you. Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like. Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise. If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in the comments.

Barter,
A fair exchange
Well, you nailed that one. Bartered, in eleven words. Nice one, Dale. BTW, is that a frog?

Hmmmm, shouldn’t that… veggie thing be a metal prince?
I mean you start with a metal frog. I was thinking along the lines of some sexy long haired guy from a metal rock band in the 80’s. You know, Cinderella, or Motley Crue kinda rock princes. Even a metal statue of Prince would be cool.
OHHH! Never mind. There’s no pic of you kissing the metal frog. What am I talking about? What is that potatoey thing?
Whatever, you nailed it in 11 words! 😀 ⚡️💥

Actually… That was a real frog! And yes, methinks the barter may not have been a fair one ..
I gotta say, I’m a tad fed up of kissing frogs…

Wow! You found a golden frog!
… hahaha… ahh.. kissing frogs is rough. Still, one could be a prince.

Nice trade. Frog for a veggie. Good work, Dale.

Why not, eh. Depends on the value each gives to the item being exchanged

Dear Dale,
As long as the barterers feel it’s a fair exchange, it is. 😉 Well done.

Q,
At first I thought that was a humongous potato. What kind of vegetable is that? And the frog should probably be named after it, in order to provide continuity.
11 words . . . my Gawd how? But ya did it!

B,
I have no idea what the hell it was. We were on vacation somewhere and these were lying on the ground. They had a rough outer texture. Hmmm. There’s a thought.
11, This is the shortest one yet!! Was hard to go outside of the box with this one. So I didn’t!

It’s muy suspicious looking. You weren’t in New Mexico were you? Because in that case, they’re pods. And this photo would mean . . . the Area 51 run is back on!!!
11 words! I mean, you’re not even getting started and it’s already over!

Ha ha ha! Nope. Never been to New Mexico! But they do look like pods… hmmm
Seriously! I was like. Right. So. No where to go with this ‘un. And I didn’t want to do the “love” thing as, as suspected, it was quite done 😉 But there’s only so much you can do with friggen 11 words.

I’m being geographically appropriate, but really . . it’s not like these martians ain’t travelers. I mean . . they travel light years to get here, so it doesn’t HAVE to be New Mexico.
11 words isn’t even enough for a greeting card!

There is that. And it was near Florida, if I remember correctly, which I probably don’t.
