A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend. How you use the prompt is up to you. Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like. Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise. If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in the comments.
Word Prompt
Morphology
Challenge
Boy, she really knows how to picke ’em, our Sammi, eh? My attempts to use this word in a reasonable manner…
Strength
My body’s morphology has left me musing
Where once I lamented my youthful form
So strong and able
Jumping high and running fast
I now appreciate my present form
Reshaped by life’s journey
Stronger and more capable
Q,
Love the word, first of all.
Love love what you did with the word even more. And the context is the diametrical opposite of amorphous, which is a word that came to mind immediately when I saw the challenge word. Yours is much more positive and constructive in nature. And true of anyone who understands that age isn’t a pink slip for your body- both internally and outwardly.
The morph is the more, not less. It’s the way of understanding yourself as having value no matter what the societal standard dictates. Hell, it’s why I don’t pay any mind to commercials!
Magnifique morph job!

B,
I wrote to Sammi this morning at 4 am – she’s in England – saying basically “seriously?” Then I got into it. Almost wrote it after work then felt it needed a less frazzled mind so I put it aside.
I am beyond pleased you love what I did. The text morphed three or four times before I came to this! And yes, I think with maturity comes knowledge that we are not lesser than as we age.
The morph is definitely the more! And I am with you 100% on ignoring the damn commercials – the cause enough damage on the younger generation as it is.
Merci mon ami!

You need to get on a sleep schedule girl! Buahahaha!
Not at all. I’m in better shape now than when I was thirty. And I’ll be in better shape in 2020 even then I am now. It’s the ability to understand your limitations which actually becomes the greatest strength in the end.
It’s everywhere. More insidious than ever. And not just commercials. The influencers are whole other level of no bueno for the psyche of those whose psyche ain’t even finished yet!
De buckets!

Sweetums… I finished at 3 am! Was home by 3:30 and no, can’t just plop myself into bed… But then again, I didn’t even try…
You are. I’m not quite but I’m working on it. And yes, one absolutely must understand one’s limitations.
It is god-awful. When you use barely 30-something women to schlep a product aimed at 50+ women, there is a problem.
You da best!

I mean when you get a day side job. I understand the math just fine with this gig you got, but this gig you got is just about done. And good riddance.
It’s where the strength happens. When you’re young you think you are bullet proof. It’s a vulnerability.
It’s called central casting. They don’t sell reality, and they’re really good at it.
No, YOU da best!
LikeLiked by 1 person
Oh right… And yes, this gig has run its course. Of that I promise you.
Exactly. My son actually told me he was invincible… I asked him if he was sure considering he already has back issues at the tender age of 21, not to mention the number of times he’s ended up in the ER with cuts…
Fucken A they’re good. I’m just “gooder” in that I ain’t buying into their shit – not anymore 😉
K… WE da best!

Can’t wait till you’re saying goodbye to this gig, for good.
Yeah, every kid is invincible. Problem is they treat their body as such, and there are bills to be paid for that. I am pleasantly surprised that I’ve done much damage to myself from my younger days and yet I feel as good as I do. I credit swimming, which I did, tons of.
I can’t. I want to watch a show on TV that is “live” so to speak . . .I will pause it before it begins. Twenty minutes later it unpauses itself. After which I use the commercials for breaks or just FF through them since I’m so far back.
Another tie, ladies and gentlemen!

I love that you give a shit.
They are. Hell, I was, I am sure. And my knees are telling me today that nope… you were not, Rogerson. I was never much of a swimmer, I wonder if that would help me.
I can’t either. I start watching a show twenty minutes in so that I can zip through them. Actually, I tape almost everything to watch when I want and so I can zip through them.
Coz that’s who we roll.

U know it! And there is no huay you will be at the club next season. It’s too much. You’re no weakling by any measure, but remember . . knowing our limitations is our strength. We don’t need to be invincible anymore.
Swimming would be great, you really should look into it. It will do wonders. Promise.
Like . . those beer commercials where everyone is a model. Sorry . . but I know a lot of beer drinkers, and they look like beer drinkers, LOL
It is the fo to the shiz

I do. And there is no hway! I am no weakling, to be sure. However, I don’t feel the need to prove that anymore. Certainly not for a job.
I will because Rochelle swears by it, You swear by it. Maybe it’s just time I give it try. My shoulders are not my strongest point so…
Funny that. Almost all the beer drinkers I know have beer bellies 😉
Smiling over heah…

You gotta know when to hold ’em and know when to fold ’em. Kenny Rogers was onto something.
It works wonders, seeing as how it doesn’t stress anything. It ‘s that flow, it’s magical.
They should be in a commercial so they can lose the belly and get a twelve pack!
🙂

Oh, I hope not! Of course, slang can cause some problems but nothing that can’t be clarified after, right?

Dear Dale,
Talk about a challenge! My first look at it was before the sun came up and before coffee. I love what you did with it. And doesn’t it beat the alternative? Well penned. (or keyboarded…or morphed)
Shalom and lotsa developing hugs,

I can do this challenge in a mere 26 words. Morphology-the state of moving from crazy to insane as you realize you’re way behind being ready for the holidays even before the first of December. 😆

Way behind is all in perspective. See, for me, it’s only December 1… lots of time to lose my mind…

You hardly suck. Necessity is the mother of invention in my case. It’s that or nothing. Besides what do you get family members who have collected every patented gadget every made over their lifetime? 😁

Nothing works for me;-)
Unfortunately, Christmas has lost its lustre with my boys and they are less than enthusiastic about it. Makes me sad and I’ve been trying to get things going again but it’s a solo effort.
The only thing they get excited about is the Christmas brunch my eldest makes. This year in this rinky dinky kitchen should be more than interesting…

Morphing is an elegant word. I agree we get a good trade-off as we age – except when my knees creak as I get out of bed in the morning.
LikeLiked by 1 person
It is, isn’t it? That we do and I so hear you… mine crunch as I go up and down stairs… And my job is too hard on my body which is why I am leaving it at the end of the Christmas party season and looking for something else.

Wise choice. Relates to what you are saying in your post. I can’t imagine that you won’t find a new job with all the people skills you have, as well as some practical ones.
