Weekend Writing Prompt #134 – Morphology

A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend.  How you use the prompt is up to you.  Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like.  Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise.  If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in the comments.

Word Prompt

Morphology

Challenge

Boy, she really knows how to picke ’em, our Sammi, eh? My attempts to use this word in a reasonable manner…

Strength

My body’s morphology has left me musing

Where once I lamented my youthful form

So strong and able

Jumping high and running fast

I now appreciate my present form

Reshaped by life’s journey

Stronger and more capable

  1. Q,

Love the word, first of all.

Love love what you did with the word even more. And the context is the diametrical opposite of amorphous, which is a word that came to mind immediately when I saw the challenge word. Yours is much more positive and constructive in nature. And true of anyone who understands that age isn’t a pink slip for your body- both internally and outwardly.

The morph is the more, not less. It’s the way of understanding yourself as having value no matter what the societal standard dictates. Hell, it’s why I don’t pay any mind to commercials!

    Magnifique morph job!

    • B,

I wrote to Sammi this morning at 4 am – she’s in England – saying basically “seriously?” Then I got into it. Almost wrote it after work then felt it needed a less frazzled mind so I put it aside.

I am beyond pleased you love what I did. The text morphed three or four times before I came to this! And yes, I think with maturity comes knowledge that we are not lesser than as we age.

The morph is definitely the more! And I am with you 100% on ignoring the damn commercials – the cause enough damage on the younger generation as it is.

      Merci mon ami!

      • You need to get on a sleep schedule girl! Buahahaha!

Not at all. I’m in better shape now than when I was thirty. And I’ll be in better shape in 2020 even then I am now. It’s the ability to understand your limitations which actually becomes the greatest strength in the end.

It’s everywhere. More insidious than ever. And not just commercials. The influencers are whole other level of no bueno for the psyche of those whose psyche ain’t even finished yet!

        De buckets!

  2. Dear Dale,

Talk about a challenge! My first look at it was before the sun came up and before coffee. I love what you did with it. And doesn’t it beat the alternative? Well penned. (or keyboarded…or morphed)

    Shalom and lotsa developing hugs,
