A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend. How you use the prompt is up to you. Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like. Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise. If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in the comments.
Thank you for hosting, Sammi.
Brisk walk clears a fuzzy head
the cold, underestimated
Wind whips through still-leafless trees
numbing gloved hands
pushing her home
She is welcomed by him
with an enveloping warm hug
then lead to an awaiting bath
where candle scents and music soothes
He returns to towel her dry
His hands, like nomads,
travel the length of her body
not stopping to take purchase
but leaving a fiery trail
This is magnificent. Truly. Exquisite.
(PS. No legging needed 🙂 ).

Those last few lines, his hands like nomads, are wonderful, Dale!
Your poem is a romance story.

Yay! Thank you, Merril… It was the line I built the whole poem around.
So glad you felt it a romance story.

Ooh, I love this one! Sensual hints are always sexier to me than more direct descriptions. I especially like the switcheroo, where I thought the “nomad” of the title would be the woman, out on a walkabout, and then you surprised me with the metaphor of his nomadic hands. Nicely done!

Thank you so much, Joy! So glad this worked. I agree that sensual hints are way sexier…

Dear Dale,
After that nice warm bath, she’s going to need a cold shower. 😉 Wonderfully sensual. Beautifully written.
Shalom and lotsa…um…er…hugs,

OK, so mine’s not going to get everybody horny like yours, but I think this is the first time I’ve played this game. That being said, your story brings back memories of a bizarre experience from almost 20 years ago and I’ll leave it at that.
***
Wandering down life’s pathways
Wondering whether to follow the right or left trail?
Encountering other strangers and sojourners along the way
Sharing experiences, good and bad
Maybe a shared morsel of food or drink from a water bottle
Friendly, yet leery of bad intentions, I’ll shake anyone’s hand
I’ll listen to their story and if they are interested, I will tell them mine.
Just call me a nomad

Horny, eh?
That said, glad you played along! And rather well, might I add. 😊

Q,
Brilliant and lovely way into the word, “Nomad” and quite an unexpectedly sensuous way to go about the challenge. You really seemed to expand the given word count with this one. Beautiful, just beautiful.

B,
So glad you think so. I was determined to find something out of a person who moves from place to place. And funny but the nomadic hands were the first thing to pop into my head so I built the rest around it or is it above it…
Thank you. Such a lovely comment that leaves me smiling.
