A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend. How you use the prompt is up to you. Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like. Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise. If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in the comments. A new year of new prompts that will not be less than ten nor more than one hundred and everything in between. Thank you, Sammi!

In other words, the older we get the thinner that layer of makeup worn? 🙂

The older we get, the less we want of the artifice…. well some of us 😉

Me. Although, I’m still not certain about the grey hair thingy. I like deep burgundy and purple.

Hah! And here I am considering letting my streak shine – coz, I’ve discovered I seem to only have one section. Still hesitating…

I am shamed by my daughters who don’t colour theirs. But I’ve waited so long to be old enough to have a purple rinse. Deep purple 🙂

They shame you? Not cool…
And yes. Enjoy your purple!!

Dear Dale,
I almost went with the same theme. Glad I didn’t. I think mine would’ve faded by comparison. 😉

Dear Rochelle,
I worried I was going the “expected” route 😉 I seriously doubt yours would have.

We are just a blip, a second
Fade to gray, then black

I’m glad you think it’s true, as well. So many are stuck with the whole artificial image

Yes. Every chance I get I encourage people to embrace the effects of aging. There is much more there if we allow it to proceed as it is supposed to.

Absolutely. Gotta stay away from the media that tells you it’s not. It is part of life and we have to respect the journey. And yes, there is so much more out there!

Hehehe… I hope not. Unless you’re some kind of “out there” performer à la Prince or David Bowie; or an actor in a play, it’s a good thing to leave the makeup on the counter!

Ah, Dale, what a lovely way to use seventeen words – I like the sentiment very much. I do also admit to also being happy that my latest supply of Touche Eclat has just arrived from Amazon, since these days I need a little bit of help now and then 😉

Ahh, Jilly, so very glad you like. I. Have taken out the bag holding my dye paraphernalia from when my hairdresser when through cancer treatment. I’m still deciding if I let my streak shine (coz I’ve discovered all the “silver highlight” is concentrated in one section. Not sure yet if I think it’s cool or it has to go!

Q
Growing old is a dubious thought to be certain, but you made it look beautiful with this poetic sojourn. And, this time in only seventeen words. Which makes you the last word on these challenges that fuse brevity with beauty.
My take would be “What the hell happened to me?” Which ain’t Shakespeare . . or seventeen words. So there’s that.

B,
It is a dubious thought because the media has made it so. We have to look to the old Asian/Latin cultures who actually revere their old folks.
My response to your take would be… better put your glasses on when you take your next look-see, coz from where I’m standing, you’re doing pretty damn good.
Q (biased does not mean not a good judge)

This is true. They do consider the aged to have value. Unlike modern society that sees them as less than viable.
Well you’re biased. But I wasn’t talking current state. But I’ll take the biased anyways. 🙂
Great judge

I know. We could learn a thing or two.
You do that. And I dunno about any other state but the current one. Which has prospered quite well, having conquered what came before.
Thank you 😉
