Wednesday and it’s Friday Fictioneers time. Why does a scene like this look way too familiar? Oh right. I live with two adult kids… Should you feel inspired to play along, click on the frog below and add your 100-words worth! Till then, a thank you always goes to Rochelle for keeping us neat and tidy and this week A. Noni Mouse’s photo was rather inspiring, wasn’t it?
Just For You
I’m making you a feast! All you have to do is sit back, relax, and here, take this glass of wine. Go sit on the patio with your book and I’ll call you when it’s ready. No wait, It’s beautiful, We’ll eat outside. You don’t have to do a thing. Well, maybe set the table? I’ll do the rest. Consider this a thank you for all you do for us. We don’t take you for granted, Mom. Oh, and later, I’m going out with my friends, okay? But don’t worry, I’ll do the dishes when I get back. I Promise.
I wonder if the bribery worked without the words “Okay but don’t be late back” being used.

This reminds me of that Naked Eyes song from the eighties, Promises Promises. And of course with all those melodious promises comes the realization that they CAN in fact, do dishes. There isn’t some medical condition that is preventing them from doing the dishes, after all. And it makes you go “Huh” . . .
I dig what you dished up. 🙂

Well that seals it then. They can do the dishes every night! Or several times a week. Or maybe just after themselves. Or . . .
Now to get em cleaned.

So very generous of you… You were taught to share, and share you did 😉
Yes, they can! Or at least every time I do the cooking… but I would appreciate if it were after themselves.
Uh huh. On it.

Could have been worse. I could have mentioned A-Ha.
Yeah, that would be a sensational baseline. After which doing the dishes in general wouldn’t hurt one bit . . .

My current kitchen is so small that my dish drainer counter doubles as my cutting board/prep counter — so I can’t wash dishes until all the cooking is, well, cooking. For me it’s about reducing pots and pans in the first place, by thinking ahead about how to do things in the right order and how to re-use containers, pots, etc. I’m definitely getting better at it, but I still sometimes end up with a whole kitchen of dirty dishes!

I feel your pain, Joy. My kitchen is puny compared to the professional one I had in my last home. It was almost enough to NOT buy the place though I have visions of remodelling in my head…
