A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend. How you use the prompt is up to you. Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like. Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise. If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in the comments. If you want to play along, click here and add your link to the comment section on Sammi’s post.
Romantic and quixotic is
how I shall remain
Nothing more horrifying than
to just be one and the same
Idealistic, unrealistic
both fires to my flame
Excellent, Dale. Both fires. I like that.

Nothing like Quijote to drive the inner Caballero Andante. “The same as in ever was. Same as it ever was. Same as IT ever was” will not due. Wonderful fire photo.

I admit that I didn’t know the meaning of this word, so I read your poem first, then looked up the definition … and then I smiled and proclaimed brilliant for your play with the two fires. 🙂

It’s one of those words that can be misinterpreted (well, I did, anyway – I thought it meant strange). I always look up the word prompt, even if I am certain of its meaning, just in case there is another that I can use:
I’ll take brilliant any day! Thank you! 😉

It is. I love to say it. Rolls off the tongue.

It does! And I used to think it meant something else… sheesh. Every time I get these word prompts, I look them up, even if I do know the meaning just in case there is a definition I was unaware of and can use that as inspiration,.

One of my favorite words ever. It’s like a drink that goes down smoove, after which the world becomes one melodious hum. It’s the kind of word that just hops in the file all by its lonesome because it knows it belongs there in the first place.
Out of twenty six words, you wove twenty five more that told its tale. Splendidly.

B,
It is such a cool word, I agree. Melodious hum, eh? I love that. It belongs in the file.
Thank you for generous comment. You’re so good to me.

Melodious hum, yes. And of course it belongs in the file. It skipped and hopped its way there because it just knew.
You done plushed this one.

It is, after all, quixotic, a visionary, if you will…
Oooh… Plushed, eh? That is definitely high marks indeed.
