Weekend Writing Prompt #201 – Orbit

Pour toi, notre Yvon adoré…

A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend.  How you use the prompt is up to you.  Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like.  Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise.  If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in the comments.

Perfect timing for this particular word today.  We lost a beloved member of our family yesterday afternoon. I’ll write more about him later when the dust has settled.  Thank you, Sammi for hosting this wonderful challenge week after week.

Like moths to his flame

Like mice to his Pied Piper with a guitar instead of a flute

Like the planets to the sun that he was

So did all, young and old

Orbit around Yvon

The most generous, kind, loving soul, he was

His light snuffed

Our hearts, broken

  1. So sorry to hear about your loss. Your words are beautiful. They must have come from pain.

I hope you and everyone other life he touched, find peace in your hearts. May his beautiful memories ease your pain and bring smiles to your face.

    • Thank you, Drew.

There are people in this life who just have that thing that everyone loves. He had it as did my late husband (ironically, both born on the same day). He will be sorely missed but we are relieved he is no longer in pain.

  2. Oh, I’m so so sorry, Dale!
I’m sorry for the loss, and I’m glad he was in your life.
    And …
You sure have a lotta angels flapping their wings around your heart.
    Hugs, my friend.
    I’m here for ya.

  3. “…his Pied Piper with a guitar…” is such a good description of a kind soul. I can only imagine all the broken hearts he’s left behind. Wonder 50 words to express your sorrow and appreciation of a worthy soul.

    • Thank you, Timothy. As a guitarist, you would appreciate that one. 😉 A kinder soul did not exist. And yes, manyleft behind are full of sorrow. 50 words was insufficient to do him justice so I’ll work on a proper post tomorrow!

    • Dear Rochelle,

Thank you my friend. This is the short and sweet one. I shall do him better justice with no word restraints.

Shalom and lots of appreciative love,

      Dale

    • Thank you, Jan. He was actually more of a step-father as he was my mother’s love for the past thirty years. And he will be greatly missed.

    • I do too, Pam. And this was just a little 50-word thing. I’m going to do him justice this week 🙂 He deserves way more. Thank you for your kindness. 💞
