A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend. How you use the prompt is up to you. Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like. Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise. If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in the comments. Thank you, Sammi, for hosting this challenge.
It is uncanny
and never fails
(well, almost never)
he enters her thoughts
she reaches for her phone
and before she presses a button
there comes the familiar ping
and there he is
how to explain such a connection?
Beautiful!

Uncanny connections with familiar pings never fail to make us wander around wondering how it happens.

It’s unexplainable, but wonderful. This sounds like two with a special connection.
I have a friend, and one of always seems to call when the other was about to.
Beautiful photo!

Ah, Angel-satelites connect FAR FASTER than those by us mortals, and they ‘work on’ thoughts and heart. So … 😉 science (sort of … 😉 )
And … oh, my heart! The photo!!!

Dear Dale,
It’s amazing how we develop those connections, isn’t it? Like having a song running through your head and the next thing you know, it comes across the radio. Wonderful 39 words. Stellar photo.
Shalom and lotsa blooming hugs,
Rochelle

Dear Rochelle,
It really is. I have a friend that, it never fails, I don’t hear from him for months, I have a thought, tell myself I will call him later and within the half hour, he calls me. Thank you. I was so pleased to come upon these white magnolia during my run/walk!
Shalom and lotsa uncanny love,
Dale

Reading all the other comments, it seems we all experience this strange uncannilocty (not sure that’s a word!) I was going to say your piece rang a bell, but I won’t!

This happens far too many times with my husband and children for it to be coincidence. But how to explain? But you describe it well. Uncanny.

Eez cool when the ping is like that. But have you made certain there is no voodoo or surveillance camera business going on with the other end of the line? Seems a tad bit coincidental that the ping works so mystically. Hmmmmm. 😉

B,
Eez very cool. Oh. Jeez. No, I hadn’t thought of that one… It does seem a tad…coincidental.
Waitaminute! I did say it was not always… as has been proven not 56 minutes ago 😉
Hmmm indeed…

Haha! Just joshing.
It happens that way sometimes. It can’t always be ping bling, right?
😉

I know you are 😉
It does. And no, it can’t always be ping bling otherwise it wouldn’t be so special 😉

I had ‘this’ connection with my youngest sister, who died tomorrow a month ago, on the day of our wedding anniversary. I also had it with my ex-best-friend whom I called three times (out of the blue) from abroad and every time she told me that she just really, really needed me NOW…. So your story rings more than a bit true!
Much love – I hope to be more present in the future (if THAT isn’t a super title for a story I don’t know what is!) 🙂

I am so sorry, Kiki! Please accept my deepest condolences.
I have that with two friends. it’s crazy.
Much love to you and you be as present in the future as you need to be (it is a great title – may just have to steal it…)

A ping, eh? Could be dirt in the fan. Use compressed air to clean it out!
I jest, AGM Dale. Yes, it is uncanny. After decades of pings, it still pings!
LikeLiked by 1 person
That ping is rather important to me… best it NOT be dirt!
I am beyond happy for you that you still feel the ping a decade later. xoxo
