It is Quadrille Monday on dVerse! Today’s hostess is De Jackson (aka WhimsyGizmo) who has asked us to write our 44-word poem using the word bother in some way, shape or form. De is Being bothered seems to be second nature to many of us moms… just sayin’…
Why Bother?
“Thanks for soups, Mamz.”
“Yeah, it was great!”
And before I know it
they’ve flown off their chairs
mouths still chewing that last bite
Why do I bother?
Would it kill them to just once
offer to clean the dishes
without me hounding them?
Oh! The joys of motherhood! Love the photo too 💜💜

So bothersome! Thank you. It was delicious – they said so, too! 😉 🧡🧡

One is in the basement and I won’t tell you the state of that bathroom… the other shares with me so – it’s maintained 😉 And he actually has started doing it!

It’s not fun being left with the mess!
I didn’t have a chance to get to the quadrille yet! 😀

No it’s not. And it’s getting tiresome to have to push!
You’re a busy poet lately!!

You shouldn’t still have to. They’re not little anymore.
Poetry month is crazy! 🤣

No, I shouldn’t. I have somehow failed in my teachings…🙄
It is!

Dear Dale,
Sigh. I know this one. The aftermath of a good meal, followed by the scurrying off of the recipients. Bless their pointed little heads. Well written in any event.
Shalom and lotsa tasteful hugs,
Rochelle

Dear Rochelle,
I know you do. Wouldn’t it be nice if they stayed and chatted? I’m sure once they move out and come by for dinner and don’t have a bedroom to go to they will… right? I thank you 🙂
Shalom and lotsa appreciative love,
Dale

That’s a great looking dish. Kids and cats, what can you say? I ask the cats if they could help with cleanup and kitty litter. They just look at me like “WTF?”

Thank you! It was a General Tso dish that I really must make again
I’m surprised they even bothered to look at you at all…😉

Cats being cats… You’re lucky if they deign to even respond at all. 😁

Our cats are very interactive, and very good at making messes.

Oh, I believe they are! My friend’s cats are very interactive, too. Ours? Not so much unless she is demanding food.

That was a rhetorical question, right? 😊

It was. You understood completely…😉

Unless the parents are drill sargeants and have whipped their kids into shape. Which, unfortunately, is not my case.

I don’t like to put my pots and pans… So, I guess, I must pay the price, then?

Yes. I won’t let anyone do my pots and pans.

So, you can’t complain if no one wants to help 😉

Nope. I actually enjoy the whole cooking thing. I have all stainless cookware (Allclad) and it needs a Barkeepers Friend finish that everyone else wants to skip. Even if The Producer cooks I still do the clean up.

As do I. And really, I don’t mind washing up, either. I am rather looking forward to updating my cookware when there won’t be others not so inclined to take care of them…
I think that is a fair trade!

Yeah. The food looks great. My kids never washed dishes. The other day my son, the dishwasher in his house, asked me how that affected me. Back when I was washing dishes it was just what I expected I’d be doing. Now I have Lean Cuisine for supper.

Thank you, Ina. Why is that? You didn’t let them or you just didn’t bother pushing them? Interesting that your son asks today what you thought then.
Lean Cuisine… surely you can find better? 🙂

It never occurred to me to ask them to wash dishes. My son washes dishes because his wife cooks and he cleans up. Different generation. I like Lean Cuisine because of the variety and simplicity. I’m not a foodie or a cook by nature and I’m definitely out of step with the food world these days.

Yes, it probably would kill them.
Never had kids, but it still “kills” me to do the dishes.
I HATE my dishwasher, and now use it as a pots and pans cupboard.
Then again, I don’t shovel snow, deal with the furnace or any basement issues (like when Toronto had the big flood), repair appliances and other large annoying must do’s.
I like hair do’s. ⚡️💥

You are so funny!
I look foward to doing the dishes for one. I don’t think I’ll use my dishwasher then. Then again… maybe I will!
Hahaha! Hairdo’s eh? 😉

Yeah… Remember I did mosaic hair in one of the AGM posts? I want to bring back the hair do! I can do it on Art Gowns.
First, the Tartan Gown Runway spectacle is up (after SheyGoth is saved). I just started drawing the Tartan gowns. Will send yours to you when it’s done.
Wish I could draw faster!

Can’t wait. Do what you do best! And take the time you need… It will be worth it, no doubt.
