Organizing – Friday Fictioneers

It’s Wednesday!  Yessiree!  That means it’s time to Friday Fictioneer.  I must thank Ted Strutz (so glad to see you’re getting better every day!) for the use of his picture and to Rochelle, who, even while dipping her toes in the ocean, still keeps this show running.  If you’d like to play along, just click on the jumble of frogs below to add your link to your 100-word story.

Organizing

Bills         Taxes        Kids      Housework     Stress     Job    Love    Health    Frustration    Disappointment   Elation   Excitement Sleeplessness   Hunger    Pain    Empathy   Boredom–

“ENOUGH!  All of you, OUT. NOW!”

She took a deep breath.  And another.

Oh, that felt good. She could feel her body, mind and soul come back together in a cohesive and natural state of being.

“Whatcha doing? And what’s that jumbled mess?”

“That mess is a serious purge of all that was taking over my body.”

“Uhhh…”

“Now I can look at each piece individually and see what needs to be done. What stays, what goes. Prioritize and organize.

“You’re weird.”

“Maybe.”

  1. Dear Dale,

Sigh. I’m so disorganized myself. This is the perfect piece for the photo. I love the MC’s attitude. Now back to dipping my toes and the rest of me in the ocean. 😉

    Shalom and lotsa salt-watered hugs,

    Rochelle

    • Dear Rochelle,

So glad you thought so. There are days where I would just like to dump my brain completely and start afresh… Well. not EVERYthing but yanno…

      Shalom and lotsa happy-for-you love,

      Dale

  2. Organize, smorganize. Who needs it. Lol. Well, I do for one, both physically and mentally. I used to be really good at it but age seems to have slowed me down a bit. Good story, a;though, the organization of that motor is beyond me. Lol

    • I hear ya, Jan! We all need a little, I should think. There are times in my life where the brain seems to be in overdrive.
Yeah, is that what that mess of metal is?

  3. I love where your mind went with this one! I think I can live with my cluttered brain, but I really need someone to un-clutter my house, and a secretary to file my papers (I mean while I’m dreaming. . .) 😀

  4. Sometimes you just have to clean them carburetors, and extirpate those manifold mountains of malcontent. Nothing weird that I can see.

  5. I enjoyed this, for I had thought of starting with words. You did it so well that I am glad that I changed tack. For the record my words where… Freedom or oppression, coercion, ebullient… ‘Force’ I was hoping to use the word ‘ebullient’ in its archaic form. Your post will encourage me to try again to write about my character Storm and the organisation that she works for known as FORCE.

    • The image came first. I didn’t think I was even going to play until the idea of purging the brain came to me… I can’t explain it sometimes! Glad you liked!

  6. Q

That looks like the kind of mess I would call Waste Management about. The problem becomes, when it’s not something you can clean up just by calling someone to come pick it up. Which makes it the sticky part of the label, when we arrive at that age that taps us on the shoulder and says “Eh, fuck you,” before asking what’s for dinner so your body can play war.

Of course it’s usually not anywhere near that serious. Like you said, it’s a matter of organizing and prioritizing. Keep? Kick to the curb. Rinse and repeat, after which you stretch and breathe and try and do better.

Thank you for the inspiration. As per. . . 😉

  7. A jumbled mess we all are it seems, Covid has screwed up such a lot these days, and any systems which worked in the past seem to have failed recently. Mrs T has bits of paper ready to file all over the spare room floor, but I guess you have to start somewhere! Top 5 Dale, very impressive!

    • Some more than others. Covid has truly played a number in so many ways.
Mrs. T is more organised that I am!!
I know, right? I went to work late just to post 😉

    • Glad you do. I didn’t want to go the robot or broken engine way and I can’t explain WHY it went where it did… the muse is a funny thing! And as for the decluttering – big time, I need to! 😉

  8. There is a company that advertises they “magically” remove all the junk around your house by having the person point at the mess and “poof” it’s gone. When I do my next mental purge, I think I’ll have them come. Otherwise, I’ll just reabsorb all of it!
Enjoyed your take on the prompt.

  9. This was fabulous! Do you do house-calls?
Seriously, though, this was delicious. And … well … relatable … 😉
Am finally back to being online after two weeks of pretty much nonstop attending to other things and other people’s needs followed by house-guests (my lovely sisters) and more things that needed attending to … It was busy. It was lovely. It was at times stressful (not the sisters, the other things), and at times just a lot.
Am regrouping, and finally participating in some writing/reading/commenting again. Yay to that!
Could’a used a bit of that purge, ya know. … 😉 Perhaps this weekend is an excellent time to do some of that!
    Hugs!
