It’s Quadrille Monday on dVerse – which just so happens to be one of my favourite of the prompts. A 44-word poem? Count me in! De Jackson aka WhimsyGizmo is hosting and she wants us to use the word Crown. While walking around Old Montreal yesterday, I snapped this bicycle, thinking it would make for an interesting fun subject one day. Who knew I would use it so soon? It can be part of the fun project of using one photo with a short text or this. Or both!
They say I’m next in line
That it is meant to be
I fear I must decline
There’ll be no crown for me
With a bicycle of gold
I shall set myself free
For the ruling days of old
Were never meant for me
I’ve never seen a bike like that… it certainly stands out in a crowd!

Neither had I! It sure does. When I took the picture, I envisioned somehow incorporating that pink lock! 44 words ain’t enough!

Thank you, Dora. I agree. A crown will tie you down. Way too limited! And hey, way to meet new people 😉

A royal bicycle gets you crowned with attention in fact. 😂

Is that your bike? It is super cool. Cycling is great. I used to do lots and lots of it.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Nah. I ain’t that cool. Cycling is great. Bought myself a new one this year, matter of fact! I had trouble with my knees this year. Weirdly could run but could not bike.
LikeLiked by 1 person
1) Having the seat set too low or too high will cause knee pain. 2) You might also have alignment problems. In that case you would need pedals and shoes with cleats and have them properly aligned to keep your knees straight. Cycling should be easy on your knees compared to running.
LikeLiked by 2 people
There might be an adjustment necessary for the height of the seat. I don’t use biking cleats – not that much of a serious cycler.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Simple seat adjustment then.

I should think 🙂
Maybe one day I’ll invest in the cleats and pedals…
LikeLiked by 1 person
If you decide to ride a lot they are a must. If you are joy riding, not so much. I have a hard time riding without cleats. I’m always pulling my feet of the pedals on the upstrokes because I’m used to being cleated in and pulling up on the petals as much as I’m pushing down.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Since I’m not used to it, it doesn’t bother me 😉 I’m afraid I’ll break my neck, being clipped to the pedals!
And I don’t think I’ll ever be that much of a biker. I might go on an occasional long ride but on the regular? Don’t love it that much. I don’t have a little kit to wear either 😉

Dear Dale,
That bike makes quite the statement. I love the way you worked it into your 44 words. I wouldn’t want the responsibility of a crown either. A diamond tiara for special occasions perhaps. 😉
Shalom and lotsa royal hugs,

Wait . . what? When were you on the set of a James Bond flick? And how cool is that? And okay, was it an auction? Selling off some of Michael Jackson’s things? Inquiring minds want to know.
Love the owner’s style, the color of that lock really sets the whole thing off.
But I wouldn’t want to ride it.

I know, right? How can one pass by and not take a snap and then, of course, play around with it to enhance it and make it pop.
I love that you noticed the pink lock, too. When I took the picture, I originally was going to write something, bringing in that pink. Never thought I’d end up using it for a crown prompt.
No? No ride? Why? 😉

You can’t. And especially a shutterbug- do they still use that term?- such as yourself. It would almost be considered a high crime.
Yes it’s right there. Your eyes are drawn to it immediately. And why not? It was the perfect way to prompt this challenge.
The bike is too school. Wouldn’t want to scratch it.
