A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend. How you use the prompt is up to you. Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like. Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise. If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in the comments. Thank you, always, Sammi, for hosting this challenge. And Happy New Year to you!
“Goodnight, my love
sleep well
and as you sleep well,
dream sweetly”
Words given with love
a cherished nighttime ritual
to close off the day
in the gentlest of ways
Before you go,
look up at the moon
know that I
am doing so too
So romantic, Dale. Well done.

Thank you, John. Nothing wrong with starting off the year with a little romance, I say (might just give the year the proper push!)

To the moon, be humbled. With words culled from wishes as sleep comes calling. Beautiful, Dale! I mean Q. I mean both. Just beautiful. As are the words and the wishes and the mysteries of a moon always holding court.

Your comment is beautiful, Marc… I mean B… I definitely mean both 😉
I am particularly chuffed that you find this so. May the words and wishes always hold court with the moon in it’s various iterations.

Both.
Chuffed got recognized as a word of the year, I think it was 2019. By yours truly. And yes, it still counts. In fact, I argue it counts more since I know more about words than most of these pencils up the ass peeps who make up the lists on a yearly basis! Ugh!
Here? Meet Hear!

Yes, both 🙂
I believe you did do just that. I think it’s one of the best words I ever discovered. And I am rather glad that you consider it worthy. You know words… boy do you know words. I am in awe.
Woot! Whoop!

Both is beautiful.
It really is. It cannot be used for a team name and no one gives a flip because it can be used in business much more importante than that.
You charm. And that’s a good thing.
To R and B! Which you just made me think of. As I need to split the pins for a spill of songs as I get ready to run.

It is.
And no, definitely not for a team name!
I try.
Rock on! And guess what? As I was getting ready to do the same, I looked outside and merde! It is raining. Do I try out my new jacket given to me by my son? See if it really is waterproof? It is 20 degrees colder here than there (where you are) meaning it is above freezing, meaning it might be doable, meaning, I am considering it…

It’s raining and gloomy as fuck here, but the temps remain too high for this time of year. And it is that very unseasonable temperature that will get my ass out there to finish goal for the day. Fuck the climate change deniers, but wait till tomorrow!

I cannot believe you at close to 60 down there… Welp. Gotta use it to your advantage. Fuck climate change deniers (definitely file!)!

I don’t like this shit. It’s not good. Every season needs its reason. And this is not the way.
Definitely.

It is not good at all. And yes, every season needs to do what it does.
For sure.

I think so. We’re entering a strange and dubious time.

Thank you, Tim. I used the November moon since it was the only one with that sort of cloud around it… made it more romantic to me 😉

I remember reading a story—everything else has been forgotten—about two people being separated but remembering each other when they looked at the moon…
