A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend. How you use the prompt is up to you. Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like. Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise. If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in the comments. Thank you, Sammi, for hosting this challenge!
She sat, gazing at the squalling snow outside her window and wondered how she had found herself here. Again. Why did she allow another to dictate how to live her life? How she should love? Or not love? She was her own woman, with thoughts, dreams and desires. She was not some mindless mannequin to be taken out and arranged just so to another’s way of seeing things only to be stored into a closet when no longer desired. It was time to break free.
Well done, Dale. That mannequin reminds me of my first wife.

Ya nailed it, Dale. A powerful statement when read fast, with emphasis. Again. You on a roll, Girl.

I thank ye! Sometimes it just writes itself. Then rewrites itself 😉

Maybe it seems like that, but you are involved in that process. 🙂

Now you’re cooking with mercury! Although that mannequin reminds me of some rather forgettable trysts in which I really through I might lose my soul. Or . . . maybe . . . I did? Nah, I would . . . know it, right?
You’ve merged passion with purpose, soul with sexy and have (once again! Second time in a few days now, thank you snow!) created a piece of writing to behold.
MUAH!

Haha! I should hope you would know! Then again, they can be rather sneaky…
I thank you for your most generous compliment! I can’t guarantee this will continue 😉 I’m not the once-per-day kinda writer… not very often, anyway. I guess the snow definitely did help to encourage me to try my hand!

That’s my thought. Damn.
No, no need to ride that bicycle. Do your schedule, whatever you like. I’m just saying, this is richly satisfying so please . . please, and with pretty on top, continue.
MUAH!

Damn, indeed.
You’re right. I don’t follow schedules per se. I pretty much go with the flow and that’s sometimes four days in a row, sometimes once in a week. However, with such a captive audience, I shall definitely strive to continue…

I never thought about relating a mannequin to a relationship – so I find your idea to be brilliant! 😀

Thank you, Frank. I guess there are people who feel not more than a mannequin in a relationship 😉

Dale…wonderful. I’m assuming that’s a picture of you. If it is, FRAME IT and hang it where you can see it everyday and then do a little dance and eat french fries, followed by ice cream, because you’re so happy to be free.

We improve with age, ya know. When we’re young, our brains still have some growing up to do and our soul need to find the doors outta the myths we adopted as axioms. …

There is that. Especially if we are wont to actually want to improve and learn and move forward (and outward)…

Breaking free is a milestone in a person’s life.
My mannequin, Judy, hasn’t seen the inside of a closet for 10 years.
Wish I could say the same for myself! xo

Thank you, darling Resa! 👸✨
It truly is. For some, it takes longer than others.
Judy deserves to stay out of the closet!!
You shall feel safe again, one day. I am sure of it xoxo
