A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend. How you use the prompt is up to you. Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like. Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise. If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in the comments. I haven’t played in ages and eons but hey… here I am and thank you, Sammi!
Limoncello Instead
I’ve a zest for life, this is true
Life’s thrown me a lemon or two
Woe is me
I’ll never be
I’ll not turn sour and bitter
With vodka and zest
A time to rest
I will have a delicious elixir
Yum, Dale. A fun poem too.

A fun poem for sure, and explains why I call you Thunder!
That drink looks deadly (says red wine girl) so I’ll take my share of the zest and cake it on toast and honey! xoxo

Thank you, Sorceress! Hey, you call ’em as you sees em 😉
It is. But since it is more of a digestif, one glass will do 😉

I had a digestif once. It took me forever to get home, and I live 4 doors over from the restaurant. I think it was digesting me. ⚡️💥

Nothing like a little zest in live and your vodkaf…kaf,,,ka. Zest is such a pain to scrape from lemons, but it does add life to whatever you put it in or on.
LikeLiked by 3 people
You know it! Zest is a good thing. And yeah, zesting for limoncello is quite the job – no pith! I love adding zest to food, too – using a microplaner…

I looked for an automatic zester at one point buck didn’t find one. It seems to be a job for Manual Labor. Do you know that dude?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yeah, some things need be done by hand. I know his sister Manuela Laborita. We are rather close…

You’re most welcome. Your images have planted a seed; now I’m hoping to make some limoncello in the near future. Sounds almost refreshing on a warm summery day.

It is quite sweet so a little goes a long way.
I wish I had started new batches when oranges were in their prime – next year!
Now, I want to try to make basil or chili, or… so many options I never would have thought!

Ha! Sounds delicious! I love lemons, they’re one of my favourite smells. They get a bad rap. I wouldn’t know how to make this but I can bring the vodka to get it started… 🙂

It is! I love lemons, too. And it’s really easy to make. Vodka (or grain alcohol), sugar, lemon zest. And time 🙂

😀 It sounds too easy! How much time are we talking? If I made it now, would it be ready by Christmas? 🙂

Q
To the bummer you’ll scream summer, and leave them to whither and whine. And not for nothing, but while they whine, you’ll wine. Not that beer is a bad alternative, and let’s face it, you can’t go wrong with bourbon. But gin has its place, according to Ole Blue Eyes. And if not that, tequila . . because George Clooney ain’t need to convince you of that.
And when all else fails? Moonshine! Apple Pie, of course.
Nice sprint through forty-one. Very zesty.

That was a positively lyrical ode to booze if ever I have read one! And you are correct on all fronts!
As to the Moonshine? That is still an unknown to me. So far.
Thanks for the fantabulous response to my 41.

And I did that one completely sober. Which I guess is a good thing. I mean, I’m going to take it as a good thing . . .
You’ll love it.

A tastier *solution* than lemonade for lemon problem which now becomes the answer to what to do with zestless lemons.

Il faut tout prendre avec un geste.
Ou bien serait-ce un reste?
Non, que nenni, avec la teste…
Mais avec dix-neuf mots c’est encore leste
Cette histoire est une peste
Huit mots me manquent, finissons avec un zeste.
