A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend. How you use the prompt is up to you. Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like. Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise. If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in the comments. Thank you, Sammi, for never closing these prompts so we can use them whenever our whim, whims it. And when you can’t decide between four photos to represent your word, you put ’em all in 😉
The years are festooned with events that mark them
Deaths and births
and a bunch of firsts
The good, the bad, the mundane
each have their part in decorating
the years in our timeline
Time is linear,
that’s what we know
weren’t we told?
Lovely linear and timely photos. Cuarenta y seis palabras perfectas para discutir el año.

Loved this!

A beginning and an end. 365 days…but sometimes 366. Linear…but so many twists and turns within. Nice job, Dale!

Time is definitely an illusion. But I love how you are able to line this piece up with images in order to show the line that we use in order to catalogue the passing of people and places and things through our own personal timeline. Because let’s face it, even as an illusion, the moments do remain real. And ours.
Forty-six? You done did a spectacular limbo dance with ’em.

That it is. And I am so very pleased that my images were in tandem with what I was attempting to say.
I done try 😉

Lovely words, and I love your linear photos, even though I don’t think time is linear. 🙂
And when I see a year in my head it’s a circle, but then it becomes a spiral. . .

Thank you, Merril. (And I don’t think so, either so shhhh!)
A year with so many tangents and circles and by-ways and definitely spirals 😉

Dear Rochelle,
They do, don’t they? Not so much linear as following the line? Glad you enjoyed!
Shalom and lotsa linearly-circly love,

Isn’t it the prettiest? Can you believe the new owners completely removed it and replaced it with grass? I was heartbroken. Eejits.

My garden was all grass when we moved in. There is none whatsoever now!

Mine is a mix of grass and weeds and things I know not what. However, it will eventually be no grass at all… I’d love to do something similar to the one in this post!

Yep. The occasional listen keeps our parents alive. 😉 I heard that he rehearsed a song an average of 500 times before he sang it in public. Can’t attest to the veracity of that statement, but I can believe it.

I won’t argue it. And my mother was way more Dean Martin than Ole Blue Eyes… I tend to agree… But can’t say no to a listen!

Linear? Hmmm. The numbers only seem to move in one direction, so why bother counting! Beautiful garden shots.

I love the sense of this and the séance feel of reading it, Dale. I want to add words about circular seasons turning on the linear lines of time and life.
Your poem brought to mind my favorite bible lines from Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, (the few I have) and an anonymous poem of the same name.
Well done.
Sorry so late on this. It’s been busy a traveling/family week.

Thank you, Bill! That word limit really limits us, eh? I had much more to say…
Well now! You can’t just mention a favourite bible line and not gimme the lines (I have a bible in a box, somewhere…)
There is no such thing as late. I’m just appreciative that you took the time to stop by and leave your (always) interesting comment. Travelling/family is always first!

I’d not seen the twins in over 2 years. 14 to 16 is a big jump.
Like the song, “Turn, Turn, Turn” — a time for all things. 🙂
Happy Friday, Dale.
