Well, well, well… Would you look at this coinkidink?  It is the Brilliant Birthday Boy Bill’s photo today!  And Rochelle chose today to use it for Friday Fictioneers. How cool is that? Well, I, for one, think it is so there.  So, apologies, Bill and Yolonda.  I done used ya.  But all in good fun, o’ course!  Should you have a great 100-word story you’d like to share, inspired by this here photograph, just click on the frog below and add your link. Easy peasy!

Quite the spread you have here, Bill.

Thanks.  There’s a shit-ton of work to do but that’s okay.  Work never killed nobody.

Beg to differ—

Shaddap! You know what I mean; don’t be so pedantic.

Just pulling your leg.  How far’s it go?

I have about 50 acres in all.

Holy shit!  What are gonna do with all that space?

The wife wants a greenhouse. This one seems to have good bones, so it’s a start.

What about you?

Once she’s happy puttering in her flowers, I’ll be free to do what I want.

That’s what you think!

Oh, hey, Yolonda…

  1. I wonder how I look now, blushing bright pink, me thinks. Funny story that seems to capture some character fo’ sho’. You knew I’d have to look up “pedantic,” right?
Who needs a publicist when Dale’s your friend? 🙂
Thanks many times over, Dale, for all the wonderfully (over)kind words. 🙂

  2. Haha. Happy wife, happy life (that’s on my daughter’s kitchen wall that her husband passes every day…) Amazing how you created a fun story out of this photo. I stared at it for minutes and couldn’t for the life of me figure out what I’d write. HB to Bill and good luck with that greenhouse! 🙂

Hate to break it to him (Well, he already knows this so there’s that) but there ain’t gonna be the free time on the flip side. Because from there comes to the to-do list. And from there probably comes a connection to the spot he will have formed as a result of transforming it into a destination spot for Yolanda. And in the end, all’s well that ends in a greenhouse. And Shakespeare couldn’t have written a better happy ending in 100 words than you did right there. I’m sure the birthday boy agreed wholeheartedly.

    • Dear Rochelle,

You know how much it pleases me if you can hear it 😉 I, also, would love to know Yolonda’s take… I’ll have to ask Bill 😉

      Shalom and lotsa well-scented love,

      Dale

    • I like to think that Yolonda and Bill have a good thing going and she will cut him some slack… eventually!
Man! That is one big-ass greenhouse!

  5. HA HA there’s always things that need to be done.
So you want to be a homeowner … HUH.
Cute take and story. I hope Bill and Yolando want more than just chores to do.
I’msure they do since theor nuptuals #;s are up there. I didn’t know it was his birthday.
Happy Happy Being Born Day … 🎂

  6. Currently ‘engaging in lively discourse’ with my other half about the size of our new greenhouse. I might leave this open for him to see, just to push him a little further along the path to a 10’x22′. So far I’ve only reached 10’x14′. Well done, Dale.

  7. That’s my mom. There’s nothing more she likes than puttering in her garden. She’s had many greenhouses over the years. One, my dad made for her. Unlike Bill and Yolanda, my dad often worked out there with her.
