Silent Sunday

I’ve noticed that when I share more than one photo with no text, only the Featured image appears in the Reader, with nothing to let you know there are more photos… This little blah blah is my attempt to see what happens if I do write text! I really should stick to the one photo for Silent Sunday!

  1. I love Mourning Doves! They come to our backyard garden to eat the seeds I put out for them. I get such a kick out of watching them pair off and settle down in the mulch to soak up the sun.

You captured this beautiful dove perfectly. Thanks for sharing.

    • Me too! It’s funny, my late husband hated the sound of their coo. I love watching them. They usually hang up on my wires but this one came to pose on the frame of my gazebo – RIGHT THERE.

Thank you, Ginger. So happy you like ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. A lonely dove. Sweet. The reader always changes how it displays images. If I do one image with no text, the image doesn’t show on my blog until you click on the title, but the image will show up in the Reader. Always weird the ways of WordPress.

    • Yes, her mate was up on the wire, watching her preen for me ๐Ÿ˜‰
My title didn’t even appear originally! Just that one picture that is my “feature image” and nothing else… Stupid WP. When I added the text, all three images appeared… da hell?

  3. On the email I see three, on Jetpack on my phone I see three, on the Reader I see three, and on your main site I see two. I have the added factor of using a MacBook running two sessions, one on Safari and one on Chrome. Whatever it’s on, and no matter how many, I love them!

    • Thank you, Peter!
I did go back into my post added the “blah blah” which made the reader show three photos. You are correct, there are officially two photos on the post and the “featured image” is the one that is supposed to show up on emails or Twitter or FB (if someone didn’t blacklist me).
I thank you for letting me know and for enjoying the images!

Love the Dove should be the title of this silentish Sunday. Because yes, the doves are lovely and once again, you’re bringing us into their living room and letting us sit with them and have a conversation, because . . . you can.

As for Reader, it’s been giving me shit but whatevs. I don’t expect WP to be perfect and guess what? They deliver on that expectation.

    You always exceeds the expectations.

    • Thank you, Gigi! It’s so funny, I had another photo planned for my Silent Sunday and then this one arrived and just stuck around allowing me to click away (28 shots worth…)

    • Yes, they are. They usually hang out up on my wire (a second one was up there). We had crazy wind, some rain and the sun popped out, just long enough to get me excited before disappearing again ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Sometimes I notice a row of dots just below the image in the reader, indicating multiple photos, but not sure if that is a setting thing?
These are lovely photos of mourning doves, I love their coloring. They look so soft, and that blue eyeliner is wonderful!

    • I never use the Reader. It’s following a comment that I thought waitaminute… That’s when I saw that the title of Silent Sunday does not even appear!
The three dots brings you to the blog post, so yes, you would see the whole thing.

And thank you. They are so much more beautiful than they seem at first glance. They do look soft and I love the eyeliner, too!

  6. We had quite a few couples of them in France. I started to really dislike their eternal sad cooing but at the same time, I enjoyed their quiet beauty. One of a pair got killed and lay in my garden and I swear the partner cried for weeks and weeks….. it was really touching (and annoying).

    • Dear Rochelle,

You said it! So glad you enjoy my lovely dove. She was so sweet (I’ve decided it’s a she) to come so close and allow me to take her closeup.

Shalom and lotsa flighty love (the good kind),

    • Me too! I originally had it just as the feature post but many could not see it so, I had to add it here… She looks so soft, doesn’t she?
And of course it works for Mondays, too ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Thank you lovely lady! Doves are and I hear them regularly. First time one comes so close, though! Works for any day of the week, I say ๐Ÿ˜‰
